Super Design, Super Heroes
Super designs have the power to change lives.
This exhibition pays tribute to the designs that have made an impact on the lives of individuals, families, the wider community – the world.
The impact of design can be seen in architecture and the built environment, products, visual communications, service, user experience, interface design.
There are stories here about how design can transform a city into a better place to live and work; how it can re-invent the old and make our societies more inclusive.
There are stories about the positive impact of design on the infant mortality rate in Afghanistan; electoral behaviour in New York City; the empowerment of rescued child prostitutes in India; and the integration of disabled persons into society in Singapore.
These examples are drawn from the White and Black Pencil-winning designs of the 2017 D&AD Impact and Impact Promise awards and recent recipients of the President’s Design Award Singapore.
Super Design, Super Heroes is organised by the DesignSingapore Council and D&AD, in commemoration of a three-year collaboration between the President’s Design Award (PDA) and D&AD Awards starting this year.
The exhibition is also a prelude to the announcement of the PDA 2017/18 recipients on 17 May 2018, all of them exemplary of the Award’s new focus and commitment to design impact.
Super Design = Design Impact

D&AD’s mission is to stand up for excellence in design and advertising around the world, in the belief that this creates better outcomes for all concerned. Inherent in this is a belief that a fairer, more diverse, properly gender-balanced industry will perform better than the one we inhabit today.
About D&AD Impact Awards
D&AD awards are recognised globally as the ultimate in creative excellence whilst the D&AD Foundation inspires the next generation of creative talent and stimulates the creative industry to work towards a positive future.
D&AD Impact seeks to identify and celebrate great, transformative, creative ideas that have had real impact and, ultimately, contribute towards a better, fairer and more sustainable future for all. The awards are open for entry from March through to July each year in search of creative ideas, be they prototypes, projects, products or campaigns that have the power to drive positive social impact wherever they are in the world.
